The 1892 Beers Atlas lists a Lamphers Dock Light at this point. This may refer to a place where lampreys were caught at night. There are four ice houses belonging to different companies in Four Mile Point; the Pine Grove Ice Company, the Knickerbocker Ice Company and the Four Mile Ice Company.
