The New Paltz Landing which was also known as Elting's Landing was the site of the Ferry from that point to Poughkeepsie. The village of New Paltz was farther west inland. Arthur Adams in The Hudson River Guidebook tells us that this ferry ran from 1793 to 1941.A trolley from the landing to the village operated from 1894 to 1925.
