On the opposite side of the river (from Staatsburg) is Pelham, a small landing, two miles south of Esopus Meadows, the name given to a number of extensive marshes, covered with water at high tide. Near these is Esopus lighthouse.
The Hudson By Daylight Map of 1878 shows Pell's Dock across the river from Staatsburg. Pell's Dock was the place from which the produce from Robert Pell's farm would have been shipped to New York and Europe.
