The Target

During the heyday of the West Point Foundry and the development of the Parrott gun, they tested cannons by shooting across the river. The place marked target was their bull's eye. There appear to be two targets on the map-one by the word and one south of the cemetery, which is located almost directly across from the foundry. The foundry is indicated on the right hand picture as a black building with a tall smoke stack and black smoke coming out.
